How do I Configure the IE 11 Browser Compatibility View to be able to correctly view the Edit This Page Mode?
[12/15/2014]

eMarine is currently designed to function with Internet Explorer (IE) 9 and earlier versions. IE 10 and higher (newer) versions use a different technology, which does not work well with eMarine. The workaround for newer IE browser versions is to switch the browser into Compatibility View, which will allow your browser to correctly display websites that were designed to work with older IE browser versions.

The Page Builder "Edit This Page" view will be distorted when accessed with IE 10 or newer browsers. IE 10 or newer browsers will require users to turn on Compatibility View when accessing the Edit This Page mode feature in eMarine. You will have to turn Compatibility View off, when you leave the Edit This Page mode. You cannot have Compatibility View turned on when accessing the Control Panel Modules. It will generate the eMarine Compatibility View error message and will cause the Control Panel page view to not display correctly. Just turn off Compatibility View to resolve the issue.

To use Compatibility View:

1. In Internet Explorer, click on the Tools icon in the Menu Bar. If you do not have the browser's Menu Bar enabled, this will be a gear icon.
2. Click Compatibility View Settings.
3. Do not add emarine.org to the Compatibility View.
4. Uncheck all the boxes for the Compatibility View Options listed at the bottom of the window and click the Close button.

Login to eMarine, go to your site's homepage and click the Edit This Page link. If your edit page view is distorted, click on the Compatibility View button, which is the broken page looking icon located in the right side of your browser's address bar. The icon should turn blue, which means that Compatibility View is turned on. The page will refresh and the edit page view should now look correct.

If you do not see the Compatibility View Icon (broken Page icon) right next to your address bar, you have two options:

Option 1: (Add Compatibility View button to Toolbar) Right click in a clear open area of the light blue bar right below your browser's address bar > check Menu Bar & Compatibility View Button option, which will add the Menu Bar to the browser's Toolbar and the Compatibility View button right next to the browser's address bar. Now, click on Compatibility View Icon, which will turn blue and turn Compatibility View on, the eMarine page will refresh, and edit page view should now display correctly.

Option 2: Click on the IE Browser's Tools Icon > click on Compatibility View, which will turn Compatibility View on, the eMarine page will refresh, and edit page mode should now display correctly.

To turn off Compatibility View:

1. Click on the Compatibility View button in the browser's address bar or on the Compatibility View link listed in the browser's Tools Icon, the icon color will change from blue back to white, which means that Compatibility View is turned off.

Note: If you added the eMarine.org website to the Compatibility View Settings list; by default, IE 11 is set to clear your browser history when you quit/close the browser, which also clears the list of websites added to Compatibility View.

To disable this setting:

1.Open the Tools menu as described in step 1 above, then select Internet Options.

2.Under the General tab, uncheck the "Delete browsing history on exit", then click Apply. If you do not disable this setting, you will need to recreate this list every time you launch IE.
